Neighborhoods Now

The Walnut Hill community is the recipient of funding from Neighborhoods Now (formally PNDC). Given proximity to numerous amenities, including public transportation, which makes the neighborhood attractive to homebuyers. The area benefits from several bus and trolley routes and the Market-Frankford El, which allow easy access to University City, Center City, and the rest of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Walnut Hill features convenient supermarkets, pharmacies, and retailers, and the West Philadelphia Regional branch of the Free Library. The neighborhood is also close to many K-12 schools, universities, and hospitals.

Funding from the Healthy Neighborhoods Initiative will allow Walnut Hill its strategic partner, The Enterprise Center CDC (TEC-CDC) to improve several demonstration blocks within a targeted area, extending between 47th Street and 52nd Street from Ludlow Street to Spruce Street, to serve as examples of the potential effects of resident-led revitalization.

Wachovia Regional Foundation

Walnut Hill Community Association in partnership with The Enterprise Center Community Development Corporation has applied for a planning grant from the Wachovia Regional Foundation to assist in funding the development of a comprehensive neighborhood plan. We anticipate a response to our application late winter or early spring 2007.
